Christmas + My Favorites This Year

HollyDays Christmas Photo Cards Christmas 2013

We are right in the middle of our Christmas holiday season. It’s not Thanksgiving quite yet, but our elves are busy crafting Christmas Photo Cards, Gift Tags, Stickers and gifts. I wanted to share with you just a few images of some of my favorite Christmas things this season.

Christmas Chalkboard Wreath Photo Cards

I love the vintage feel of the chalkboard look, but I also love a little color & whimsy…

Isn’t this the cutest?! our gift tags + cupcakes and whimsical goodies = cute & yummy!

I also love the simplicity of a grosgrain ribbon on a package with a little natural element like a pine cone from my front yard and one of our Chalkboard Tags.

Hope this gives you some inspiration for your holiday season.

Gobble! Gobble!

November is my favorite month of the year. It’s finally acceptable to listen to Christmas music, it brings Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday), the start of the Christmas season and all things pumpkin. Today I made pumpkin bread for the teachers at our church’s preschool. I have the absolute best recipe for pumpkin bread. I have a friend who doesn’t even like pumpkin and likes this bread!

My best friend from childhood’s mom has entrusted me with her family recipe. It wasn’t until I moved out of state, and with some begging, that she finally shared her secret. I recently found out that her own daughter has not even been given the recipe! (she recently moved out of state and so she is hoping to soon make it into the inner circle) I am telling you all this only to say, I have been sworn to secrecy. However, I have the next best thing! The best recipe for banana bread. I don’t like banana’s and I like this bread. (Really!)

Banana Bread

1 cup of butter softened, 2 cups of sugar, 7 large ripe bananas mashed, 1 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract, 4 eggs slightly beaten, 3 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. salt and 2 tsp. baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl with beater attachment. Blend in the mashed bananas, vanilla and eggs. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Add dry ingredients one cup at a time to banana mixture until well blended. Split into 2 greased 9×5 inch loaf pans. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.

This bread is extremely moist and will be gobbled up quickly!

Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. The little loaf pans are from Micheals craft store. They have a variety of fall and winter pans for $1 each, can’t beat that!

Trick or Treat | DIY Halloween Ideas

It is officially Fall, no bones about it! That means Halloween will be here before you know it! Halloween is all about tricks and treats and I have a little bit of both for our friends at school this year.

Don’t be fooled, these bones are actually pretzels with mini marshmallows dipped in white chocolate. I know the kids at school will love these, and to be honest so did I! I may have tested a couple while I was making them.

I love to bring a little unexpected treat to my son’s teachers. It is getting cooler, but during fall in Alabama, the temperature still hangs around 70-80 degrees in the afternoon. When I go to pick my son up the teachers and kids are often out on the playground and this will be a refreshing treat!

Visit the HollyDays website to find these and many more Halloween gift stickers and tags to personalize your tricks and treats.

Holly’s Happy Finds {Monograms}

I’m a Southern girl and one thing I love is a good monogram. We Southern girls monogram our pillows, our stationery, pretty much anything we can stitch, paint or stick a vinyl monogram on (am I right, southern girls?) I decided to dedicate this weeks Holly’s Happy Finds to MONOGRAMS! Here are some of my favorites!

1- Monogram Ring :: It is now on my Christmas wish list! Handmade and available HERE.

2- This hat by Laroque in Columbia, South Carolina :: WOW – I’m not sure if I could pull it off, but it sure would be cute!

3- A jacket with a monogram :: I recently bought a jacket on clearance with the plans of adding a monogram. This one is cute by Tiny Tulip in Tallahassee, Florida.

4- My favorite thing is a large monogram on your door or wall. Last Christmas, I had a wooden monogram on my wish list and I LOVE it! This one in the picture is made by Southern Proper Monograms in Montgomery, Alabama.

5- I am loving these hand painted bangles by Preppy & Pink. Their current wait time on them is 4-6 weeks due to their popularity and the time involved in hand painting each bangle.

Aren’t monograms so cute y’all?

Halloween and Christmas

If it is possible to be thinking about Halloween and Christmas on the same day, I’ve done it.  I was working on two different Christmas themes yesterday and decided to add a Halloween owl treat bag tag and sticker to the Halloween goodies!  These make easy tags for candy treat bags.

I found these super cute monster brownie cake pops.
They would go great with our cute monster tags!
{We will have more ideas coming soon as well as some of our own projects}.

Make sure you order your Halloween goodies by Monday, October 17, in order to guarantee they will be delivered to you in enough time to prepare your goodies for Halloween!

Our Christmas items will be coming in October.  I really wanted to have everything on our website to purchase on Sept. 1, but I have so many new designs in the works, we wanted to wait until then to have everything available.  We’ll be sure to let you know just as soon as everything is ready!  It’s almost that time of year!
