Monthly Archives: September 2010
We’ve been working on getting our Christmas items up on our website. It’s been a busy week trying to get everything up in addition to our regular orders. My goal is to have everything or almost everything up by October 1, which is Friday. Two more days! Keep an eye out… we’ll be having an early bird sale very soon! Oh, and we’ll be getting up the Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff, too. We do things backwards sometimes!
Yesterday, I had a photo shoot of all our Christmas clothing. They are almost up and ready, but we have a few more to add.
We have a Manger scene design that I am so excited about. It will be available on girls and boys clothing. It has this Bible scripture around it:
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given … and His name shall be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Hope you have a great day and we’ll let you know when everything is up!
We’ve been busy working this weekend on our new show booth and boy, we are exhausted! Yesterday, we started painting it. My in-laws were in town, so my father-in-law helped us spray the booth.
It was a beautiful, hot day yesterday and we had just finished painting and doing the whitewash technique to these walls…
And it started to sprinkle… we started to worry… and it started to sprinkle harder… we started to hurry pulling pieces indoors… then it started to pour… we started running around like crazy folks trying to get everything out of the rain… we got the last piece out of the rain and… it stopped.
I promise it went from beautiful to a quick shower and sunny again within five minutes. Then the sky looked beautiful.
Then we started painting some more…
Once these walls were painted a black cat showed up… seriously, I think you don’t believe me, but I’m serious about this! We kept trying to get it to go home and it kept sneaking up on us. We turned our backs for a matter of seconds and when we looked back at the boards there were tiny paw prints across two of them. Please Note: no cat was harmed in this project, but I seriously think that he was pushing his luck with my husband and one of his lives. I didn’t take pictures of the paw prints… I wasn’t going to push my luck either. I had already laughed at him after the paint gun sprayed back at his face two times.
Today, we repainted the blue and the brown. Of course, after we painted the brown, the wind blew and got leaves and dirt on the paint. So after letting it dry, sanding it and repainting, we were done. Yes, the end is in sight.
I’m really excited about our booth. We have put a lot of work into in in hopes it will give us much better display space. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Do you ever feel like at the end of the day you have hardly accomplished anything? Sometimes after replying to emails, working on customers’ proofs and custom designs and chasing after a one-year-old, oh and somehow managing to take a shower, dry my hair and put on makeup, the day is over before I really get started. I created this form to help me plan my day. I’m now passing it on to you as a FREE PDF download. It helps you manage your time more effectively by prioritizing your responsibilities each day. If you are like me, you have a to do list, but it always doesn’t get done. This form makes you decide what three things are the most important TODAY. It can of course be something like: “go grocery shopping”, “sweep the floors”, etc., but also don’t forget things like: “read Conner a book” or “go to the park”. Also, you can make make notes on the sheet and make a list of things to do around the house as your day progresses. Hope this helps you as much as it has helped me!
Hope you have a wonderful, organized day!
I’m super excited to tell you about my weekend! First of all, I must tell you about a blog I love to read- The Lettered Cottage. Layla is a very creative decorator and she’s awesome at redoing, re-purposing and reusing! It’s the one blog I HAVE to check out everyday. Guess how excited I was one day last year when I realized she lived in Prattville, AL?! It made me love her even more because she’s an Alabama girl like me! Anyway, I was even more excited last week when I found out that she was having a yard sale in Birmingham with Rhoda, a fellow blogger and friend of hers, just 10 MILES FROM MY HOUSE!!!! Wow! You better believe we were there bright and early Saturday morning! I can’t wait to show you what I bought…
My niece, Gracyn, was spending the weekend with us, so we loaded up the car with the girls bright and early and went on our way!
Oh, and we also brought our trailer!
We were there earlier than Layla and her husband, so we had a little waiting around time… Animal Cracker, anyone? Gracyn couldn’t understand what we were waiting for…
Well, our car decided to die on us while we were waiting in it, so after Rhoda’s nice neighbors helped us get it started again, we were in business!
Time to shop! Rhoda took the photo below.
Then, Layla and Kevin showed up in a big van with a trailer of furniture!
First of all, I have to show you the chairs I bought: LOVE THEM…
Layla blogged about them here and they can be seen here in her dining room.
The numbers on the back of the chairs are 1,4,3 for the number of letters in the words
“I love you”
We also got an old dresser with a pretty round mirror.
I can’t wait to redo it… I’m thinking a pretty fresh white.
We also bought a pretty side table for my daughters room and this:
It is a panel made out of slats of wood that is stained to look weathered.
I’m thinking of painting a Bible verse on it in white or cream. Any ideas?
And of course, I had to have my picture with Layla! She is like a celebrity to me!
Thanks Layla for your super fun yard sale! We had loads of fun!
I can’t wait to share what I do with my new items.
Give me a while to work on these projects, I have a business and a 16-month-old!
Hope you had a great weekend!
Coming up this week… a baseball baby shower, photos of our Christmas booth in the making and more!
Want to know what we’ve been working on lately? It’s our Christmas Village craft show booth! We are getting a brand spanking new booth. My husband and I have been working and working and working… I can’t wait to show you some pictures of it… but until then, here’s the blueprints- HollyDays style!
Hope you have a great Friday!
We were enjoying the nice weather outside this morning and it made me think of this picture I snapped last week of some sippy cups we made. They are available on our website here. Hope you are having a great day! Oh, coming this week… a baseball baby shower and a peek into our project we’ve been working on lately.
