Christmas 2010 Sneak Peek

We are in full Christmas mode here at HollyDays!    Yes, it’s August and that means December is almost here, so we are scrambling to finish up Christmas designs and plans.  Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the other holidays between now and Christmas.  We just wanted to give you a sneak peek at what we’ve been finishing up.  We would love to know what you think.  Here are just a few of our cards for this year…

I Just Have to Share

I just got back from grocery shopping!  Yes, I’m excited!  Not because it is so fun to spend money, but because I love to SAVE it!  After my shopping trip tonight, I just had to share my savings with you.  I have been couponing for years and lately a lot of my friends and family have joined in and since they are enjoying it, too, I wanted to share it with you, my blog friends.  First, I’ll show you what I bought and then I’ll tell you how much I spent…

I bought 24 items:

Normal Total: $85.63

I Spent: $24.11

Ok, folks, I even measured my receipts and I have 3 feet of receipts, seriously that’s a whole yard!  I purchase the Sunday newspaper so I get the coupon sections and then I check the following websites for the sales and coupon match-ups.  Basically, you can check out the website(s) for the items on sale for the week and the list of coupons you can use for the items.  You can find the coupons from the newspaper sections and online.  If they are online, the websites give an easy link for you to print them.  These websites are some of my favorites:

You Will Want to See This

Our goal for HollyDays is for it to continue to grow and have high quality products for you, our customers.  Many of you who know me, know I am a perfectionist, so I only sell what I am willing to buy myself.  Here’s some very exciting news:

1. We have a new printing process.  Our stationery products are now printed on a digital press.  This means super high quality printing (the best you can get) on a heavier matte paper.  I am thrilled with the quality and you will be, too.  Plus, now we are printing in color on the back so the cards aren’t just cute on the front… the back is cute, too!

2. We have a new method of designing and producing our clothing items.  We know you are going to LOVE them!  We’ll have more on that subject to come in the future.  We will add them to our website once we complete number 3…

3. We are updating our website!  We just can’t wait to get it up and running.  On this new system, you will be able to customize most of the products on your own when you purchase them (like change fonts, add your text, etc) and see an instant “proof”.  How cool is that!  We have created it step-by-step from what it will do and say when you click on something to what every box and button will look like.  We have had some wonderful help with the actual behind the scenes process of making all our visions work.  I just want to share a little sneak peek…

Here’s what the front page will look like:  Basically the same “look” but we have made it a little wider to fit in more content.  The image with the platter will rotate like our previous one, but you will be able to click on the numbers to go back or forward to see a slide you missed… think sale info and special coupon codes there!!!

If you click on the categories at the top, it will bring you to some pretty cool pages that show the categories and some images of the products.  Yes, that is a turkey dressed as Santa on the bottom right.  It started out as a joke, but I think I may leave him.  He’s trying to be the “seasonal” turkey… I just need to add some more holidays to him :)

I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek.  We will have it up and running in the near future… we are thinking it will probably be another month though before it is ready.  I was just so excited I wanted to share it with you, after all, I’ve been quiet about it for 3 months+ already!

Hope you have a great week!

Making a Splash

I decided to take my sweet girl outside today to play in the sprinklers.  I was playing around with my camera trying to learn some more about it.  I’m slowing learning manual photography.  I really, really want to learn so I can take great every day photos her and of my products for the website and an upcoming catalog.  Any photography tips are greatly appreciated…

Doing this post made me think about a party set I finished recently for a little boy.  Hollis is turning one and his mommy has been planning a whale party.  Here is a glimpse of the party package design.  Hopefully we’ll see pictures from the party to share!

Hope you have a splash today!

A Superhero to the Rescue!

So my husband and I had to work in the nursery last Sunday at church.  We are on the “parents rotation” and usually have to help in our daughters class, but last Sunday we had the 3-year-olds.  I will remind you that our daughter is 15 months.  We had a class of nine and only two were girls.  We learned quickly that the boys were fans of superheros and we didn’t even have to see the spiderman shirt or the pair of superhero sandals on another little boy to find out… they have already picked up some superhero-crime-fighting-moves and they weren’t afraid to use them.

I thought it was great and perfect timing that one of our customers, Haley, sent us a photo collage of her little boys’ birthday party.  Kepler and Dax are their names and since their birthdays are close together, they get to have their parties together.  This year the theme was a Superhero pool party… complete with the terrycloth bath towel superhero capes!  How perfect for a three and four-year-old party.

Haley wanted to be simple with the decorations this year, but as her creative mind got goin’, she started coming up with more great ideas!

I must first say she is so creative and she knows exactly what she wants.  Each year, she emails me a drawing of how she envisions the invitation.

So then, I draw it and here’s how it turned out:

Here are are the photos from the party and we’ll give details of the party below:

Haley used small clear gift bags for guests to fill with Spiderman and Batman pez candy containers (she found these at the Dollar Tree store), small M&M’s, Twizzlers, other candy in blue, red and yellow as well as cute pinwheels.  She also had masks for the party guests to wear. On the suckers, she made paper thank you’s that said “Thanks for making our party SUPER!  Your pals, Kepler and Dax”.  The tables were covered with burlap.  The cakes came from Edgars Bakery (“because they taste SO good” Haley said {I say so, too!}).  Also, she made the hooded towels with their initials on the back for superhero capes.

Thank you so much, Haley, for sharing these great photos!  We can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve for next year!

Colorful Cupcake Cutie

We’ve got a super cute party to show you today!  I was able to do party goods for a colorful cupcake first birthday party!  Ellasyn Claire’s Mommy, Lynsey, was so kind to share the photos with us.  Here are some of the pictures from the party!

Adorable cupcake cake!  By Edgars Bakery

Is this not the sweetest cake?!  It is Ellasyn Claire’s smash cake in the shape of a cupcake!

Lynsey used our stickers on bright card stock ruffle circles
and tied them with ribbons around the candy jars.

See our stickers on the cups!  I love the muti-colored cup stack!

Here are the cute party favors.

Thank you Ellasyn Claire for sharing pictures from your sweet first birthday party!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!  The party was so adorable!
