DIY Fabric Bunting Part 3

We are really excited about how our bunting turned out!  It still needs a warm iron to smooth out the wrinkles, but it is basically done… well, almost.  I’ll be heading back to the store to buy more ric rac to make it longer.

We’re hoping for great weather for our little girl’s birthday party so we can decorate outside and this bunting can be strung from side to side across our patio.  We’ll keep our fingers crossed!

We would love to see your bunting photos!  Send us a photo of the bunting you make and we’ll send you a coupon code for $10 off any purchase from HollyDays!  We may even feature your bunting on our blog!

Hope you enjoy your day!

DIY Fabric Bunting Part 2

Ok, now you have had a chance to get inspired to make a cute fabric bunting, here are the instructions, step by step.  The great thing about a bunting is if you use it for a party/wedding, it can be reused as a decoration for a child’s room or playhouse.

Here we go…  Introducing the no-sew Fabric Bunting.  {Feel free to sew it, if you like.  It’s not against the rules… these instructions are for those of us who are more comfortable with a bottle of glue in our hands than a needle and thread}

{Click Here to download triangle pattern}

Now, a little note: If you are going to be seeing the bunting on both sides, you may want to
use some fusible webbing to attach the wrong sides of two pieces of fabric together before
you cut the triangles.  Then cut out the triangles with the pinking shears.  Also, you would
want to glue another piece of ric rac or ribbon on the back of the other piece of ribbon
so you don’t see the area where the triangle attaches to the ribbon.
Doing so makes it have a nice, finished look.

Want to see how mine turned out?  You’ll have to wait until tomorrow… we aren’t done!
We’ll post the photos tomorrow of ours.  When you finish yours, be sure to send us a photo!

DIY Fabric Bunting Part 1

Another project we’ve been working on for our little one’s first birthday party is a bunting!  You’ve probably seen these before hanging around car dealerships.  Believe me, these are much, much cuter.  You can make these as cutesy or formal as you like.  They are used at birthday parties and weddings.  This is part one of a three part blog tutorial on how to make a cute no-sew fabric bunting.

Take at a look at this handmade fabric bunting by a bride shown at Snippet & Ink

This is an adorable bunting available at Restoration Hardware Baby & Child.
Oh so cute pink & brown!

Ok, we thought this was the most beautiful bunting on the edge of the table,
but with further reading, we found it is actually beautiful paper cut into triangles
attached to the side of the table.  How cute would this be
as a bunting around a table at a birthday party!?

In the next post, we’ll include photo tutorial of how we made our fabric bunting.

Have a great day!

DIY Fabric Garland

We’ve started working on some projects for our daughter’s first birthday party.  While we are working on some of the projects, we’ll share some tutorials with you so you can incorporate some of these ideas in your own parties.  Our first project is ribbon garland.

Supplies you will need:

  1. Rope {Jute works very well}
  2. Scissors
  3. Ribbon, fabric or tulle {Cut into strips, we cut ours 9″}

The ribbons will be tied closely together.
You will be able to slide them close after you tie them on the rope.

You are done!  Just hang it up!
You can hang it on a mantle, chandelier, curtain rod, doorway, wall, porch railing, etc.

You can also add white lights to give a nice effect at night!

Hope you enjoyed this simple tutorial for a ribbon garland.

We are enjoying a nice snow.  It doesn’t happen much in Alabama, so we’ll enjoy it while it lasts.  It’s nice to watch while sitting in the warm indoors!  Hope you have a great day!

Welcome Baby with a Door Sign

Where have we been the past few days?!  The 102.8 degree temperature hit our little one again on Tuesday, so after a doctor trip for her, I had my own trip to the doctor the next day!  I have learned it’s virtually impossible to stay well when you have a sick baby.  Now, we are all feeling much better and on our feet again!

Are you ever looking for a creative, personalized gift for a new baby?  Take a look at our New Baby Hospital Door Signs.  The signs can be personalized with the child’s name and initial. These signs are a hit at baby showers and in the hospital.  I’ve had numerous new moms tell me they had people knocking on their hospital door asking where they got the sign.  It even happened to me when I was in the hospital delivering our baby!

Here’s the one for our little girl.  It now hangs on her bedroom door.

The fonts and colors can be changed on the signs so they can match the nursery decor!

When the baby is born, the new parents write in the birth details with a permanent marker or paint pen!

Our Baby Door Signs are available HERE!  If you don’t see a design you like, but there’s a design you like on another of our personalized items, we can create a sign just for you!

Hope you have a great day!

Babies and More Babies

We’ve been working away this week on baby shower invitations!  By the looks of it, there are a lot of girls on their way this summer!  Here are some of the shower invitations we’ve been designing this week.  What is really neat is that by just changing the wording, these invitations can also work great for summer cookouts, wedding showers and children’s parties.

A couple of the invitations also have matching thank you cards for the daddies & mommies-to-be!  What a creative gift from the shower hosts/hostess!

Want to know where we got these new adorable fonts?  Click on the link below and you can download some for yourself!  We love creativity at HollyDays and these fonts are just that! Amanda at Fonts for Peas takes a person’s handwriting and turns them into computer fonts!   Now, how cool is that!?

I get the cutest handwriting fonts at Fonts for Peas! kevinandamanda.com/fonts

Hope you enjoy getting a glimpse of what we’ve been working on lately!  It’s hard to believe that it has been almost a whole year since my own baby showers!  Coming up this week… we’ve started planning a 1st Birthday party for our little one!  Starting this week, we’ll be posting some DIY projects for birthday parties.  Also, we’ll also be showing off more baby shower gift ideas.  Hope you have a great day!
